THE FINANCIAL SECTOR IN GHANA
The financial sector plays a large role in Ghana’s tax ecosystem and Ghanaians’ willingness to be tax compliant. Not only do banking institutions influence a business’ entry into the formalized economy, but also determine entrepreneur’s access to capital and growth.
G7 RESTRUCTURING FOR THE GLOBAL TAX SYSTEM
Taking the global economy into account is an intrinsic part of how governments establish their tax products. Ghana, like many other African countries, offer tax holidays to major international firms, leading them ultimately to a race to the bottom. SGI is a transdisciplinary company, and we understand that foreign firms that are established solely for the tax holidays do not invest in the country’s economic framework and do not promote inclusive economic growth. Just as an invasive species will use the resources needed by other native species in an environmental ecosystem, it is imperative to establish regulation and national tax to combat this phenomenon.
GHANA IS IMPACTED BY THE LOW TAX REVENUE
Our team at SGI has developed a series of White Papers looking at the State, Drivers, Pressures, Impacts, and Responses of tax non-compliance in Ghana. This in-depth research allows us to establish a baseline of the country’s tax ecosystem. Please click here to read and leave comments on our paper. We look forward to incorporating your feedback into our research.
